District Council Meeting

So the first Distrct Council meeting of the year was held at Wrexham Glyndwr University in the Catrin Finch centre. A good turn out and i have to say i was a little nervous as i wanted everything to go well. We were also joined by our RIBI president Debbie Hodge and her husband Mike. After picking them up and travelling over to the Catrin Finch centre i wanted to make sure everything was in place especially the IT so we got there nice and early !  To my relief everything was working fine and we started the evening with a Foundation film and some music to set the scene. The official handover was done from Beryl To me ( although we had already done this at the Ins and outs lunch !)  It was then all down to me. I was delighted to install two new AGs  Alison Lui and Sherie Soper. I wish them both all the very best in their new role. Th evening went well and Debbie Hodge gave a great address to the crowd. She really is a very accomplished speaker !  We also had an interesting speaker on the environment and the need to clean our beaches and rivers from waste plastic. After introducing the team for 2018/19 we got all the business out of the way and a successful council was held. We then retired to the Pub for a much needed drink and some food !  Thanks to Julia Sayle our new District secretary for all her hard work and preparation.

I was also delighted to be able to award a Paul Harris sapphire pin to PDG Tony Cotton for his outstanding work on membership over the past few years. IPDG Molly Youd also received a special award from the Rotary Foundation for her bequest. This was presented by RIBI president Debbie Hodge.

The Les Wilson Baton is passed on from Beryl to me.
